Fire Extinguisher and Fire Science

People credited with this unit standard are able to demonstrate knowledge of the fire classes and fire suppression techniques, and select and implement a strategy to deal with fire. This unit standard is applicable to members of the general public in industrial and domestic situations.

Competence Achieved

Successful trainees receive:

• NZQA Unit Standard 3271, level 2, credit 1 - Suppress fire with hand extinguishers
• NZQA Unit Standard 4647, level 2, credit 1 - Explains the principles of fire science
