Māori Health and Training

Naku te rourou nau te rourou ka ora ai te iwi

With your basket and our basket the people will live

As an organisation we have worked in many Māori communities and are keenly aware of the health challenges and disparity facing Māori. It is our goal to engage in and help to reduce these outcomes.  ProMed are absolutely committed to the articles of Te Tiriti ō Waitangi, in particular with respect to Māori Health.

These involve the 3 P’s of healthcare delivery.

  • Partnership involves working together with iwi, hapū, whānau and Māori communities to develop strategies for Māori health gain and appropriate health and disability services.
  • Participation requires Māori to be involved at all levels of the health and disability sector, including in decision-making, planning, development and delivery of health and disability services.
  • Protection involves the Government working to ensure Māori have at least the same level of health as non-Māori, and safeguarding Māori cultural concepts, values and practices.

Our approach to working with Hapu, Iwi and Māori organisations is about whakawhanaungatanga, kotahitanga and mahitahi. Coming together as a partnership, sharing information and creating a vision collectively and working to help achieve those aspirations together in partnership.

We can provide training, equipment and expertise and work on a flexible model of delivery and implementation based on creating outcomes to suit needs, rather then offering a model that requires local adaption to suit.

If you’d like to work with us, or have questions about how we could work together Korero me patai matou whānau.

Nga mihi nui.

Te Whanau ō Nga Ringa Ngaio Whakaora (Pro+Med NZ)
